Hey everyone @ Windows Central its Josiah23 here today... No Tonight! I just want to see what you all think off this PC I'm going to be putting together. PS. (If any Moderators or Ambassadors know of a proper place to post this, let me know and please move into the right place, thanks) All of it together is under $410 and it's going to be better than "some" $1600 Alienware Gaming PC's I seen @ BestBuy (for the price), even with the some generations of the famous Intel Core i7 and the crazy graphics card and the 8 GB - 16 GB of ram, it's going down!! (Well, kinda) It's final cost with super express same day shipping + handling is $403.00! (All unboxed until all parts arrive. Still missing a few more) First off is the processor that can be insanely overclocked is the Intel Pentium Processor 20 year anniversary edition that can be clocked past the i3, past some of the i5's, and the ability to even up to the older i7's.

Next we have more RAM than I could ever use (not really, I'm a heavy gamer), I found this for a good price for 16 GB of RAM! Which is going to be Heaven on Earth or as some others like to call it "loud gun shot noises" from COD Ghost and "loud yelling noises" from BioShock I & II.

Next we have a SilverStone SFX Series 500 W Power Supply. It's suppose to be really efficient and real quiet. I was thinking about getting a 700 W or maybe a 980 W Power Supply but nah it's all good.

2nd to last (The last few parts are being shipped now) we have the Asrock Super Alloy Motherboard H97M-ITX/ac. It has 4 USB 3.0 ports, 2 USB 2.0 ports, and the basic Ethernet and HDMI ports.

Last but not least we have the most important of all!!! My personal favorite off all. Straight from Intel as a free gift to me (*tear drops of proudness*) we have the Intel "Level Up with Intel" Shirt (Not Ironed yet so it's super wrinkly, straight out of the small square package, I present to you... Greatness at it's finest! Lol.

Nice setup so far. I have that same exact Corsair 16 GB ram in my self built PC. What are you going with for a hard drive? Highly recommended a SSD. I have a 256 GB Samsung Pro SSD as my primary C drive booting Windows in 10 seconds. Wasn't cheap when I got it but super awesome. Good luck!

I'm going with a 500 GB Samsung SSD, and dual booting Windows 10 & some distribution of Linux. Maybe build my own Distro of Linux from Scratch.

First time booting up with this PC and so far so good.
Here is the outside of the PC (Not be best picture quality)

And here is just to show that I'm running a x64 OS (Windows 10 Pro), 16.0 GB of RAM, and the Intel Pentium G3258

Next week I'm going to be overclocking the processer to go above and beyond!

Seems like a decent-enough budget build, but what about the GPU? Also, that Pentium's not going to catch an i5.

The Pentium only managed to get right with the i3, when overclocked to 4.5 GHz. Granted, the i3 can't follow suit, but the Pentium is what it is, an entry-level CPU.

I don't know at the time, I believe it was a XFX AMD Radeon something, I will edit this post later today to know exactly which one I have when I go home.

I used to be an ATI Radeon fan before they got bought up by AMD. Now I'm a GeForce guy all the way...

I just got home not to long ago and I was way off, the XFX AMD Radeon something must have been something else I was looking at because I have the VisionTek Killer Radeon HD 5770 Graphics Card.

The Pentium can catch up to at least one of the i5's because I did a cpuboss test and another test with the same i5 and it was recommended over the Intel Core i5 due to performance and overclocking. I plan on overclocking it this weekend and I believe it can be done straight from my crazy looking ASRock Bios. I also added a Samsung Pro 1 TB SSD instead of the 250 - 500 GB SSD I was planning on getting for a really good price compared to the $400+ one's online.

Yeah, my dad picked up the Pro for about $375 from some Newegg sale, I guess. It was normally about $420 or $430.

Also, I'd be curious to see that comparison. I would have to guess it's some budget/older model because the Penitum's a 2-core CPU, while the i5 is a 4-core that is simply a different class of processor. In multi-threaded games, the Pentium can be problematic. I basically experienced this on a different level with my cousin recently. He had a dual-core Phenom X2 in his PC and was wanting to play Fallout 4. That game does an automatic hardware check and recommends game settings based on it. With the dual-core Phenom, it wouldn't even acknowledge the computer with the hardware check and set it to Low by default. Even with a high-end GPU (R9 290X) inside, the game stuttered and got upset, with the mouse lagging even on the menus. I had a spare Phenom x4 lying about that was basically the same thing, just with 2 more cores and a tad faster. We threw it into his case, and Fallout 4 recommended Ultra settings for the game, which ran perfectly for him.

That Pentium seems like a fine budget chip, $70 is hard to beat with that high overclock capability. However, it just isn't aimed at the same market as the i5 series. The only way I could see it compete with an i5 is if that i5 were a locked version (no overclocking) and it were a Sandy Bridge or something. I mean, there's a reason the i5 Haswell stuff is $100+ more than the Pentium.
