I though the same , but as I see , the shared apps will be the ones in the store and not those with the extension of .exe , so not every single app will be on phones too

I would have thought that apps would have to be specifically written to comply with the 'Write once, run anywhere' framework. It would, I expect, be possible for a software author to write an app that is specific to a particular flavour of WInodws 10.

For me, to close the app gap, enabling the fast, accurate, and reliable cross compilation of apps would be more appropriate for WP - authors of Android and iOS apps would then easily be able to port apps for us to use.

No. Write once and then be able to recompile for different devices/os versions. Each form factor (desktop and mobile) will have different functions and abilities. But rather than having to write seperstely for each they can write the desktop app with minimal changes and then recompile for mobile lowering their costs and resource requirement as well as shortening the development stage.

Also since windows 10 will truly integrate metro apps on desktop WP should benfit greatly. The reason I say so is wi does desktop has almost complete penetration of the market (apple ~3%). So you can reach a huge market and then easily recompile for mobile. At that point why not do the minimal work and reach more users (WP). Because of that WP will benefit greatly. Also this will help non pro surfaces immensely with apps.

Like with everything it will take time. Once w10 is released it will take time for adoption to overtake w8.1. And through time with metro being integrated app studios will need to shift resources and put that in their budgets to write for windows. It is a brilliant long term approach though.

Today it was reported that Windows Phone apps were discovered in the Store (beta) app of the 9901 build. It looks like strong evidence that Windows Phone apps will indeed be able to run on the desktop. (I imagine that this will be similar to iPhone apps on the iPad, with the blackspace surrounding the apps to make the dimensions the same as an iPhone.) However, the opposite is not necessarily true. A modern app written for Windows 10 desktop will be able to be fit to WP using 90%+ code, but that doesn't mean that it automatically works.
