Keeping Wifi alive when screen is off?

Hi, just wanted to know what you think about keeping wifi on when turning the screen off.

Is it consuming more battery then? I was wondering if a 3G connection is draining more or less battery in stand-by than wifi.

Cant answer that, but I suppose you could try leaving it on for a week and see if it requires charging more often than usual?

Turn on I heart radio and turn the volume all the way down. That will keep wifi alive if you are downloading something, until you get Portico. 3g battery usage will vary depending on signal.

In general, wifi will use less battery. I its a less powerful radio.

I have portico, so I can keep simply keep it alive.

I keep mine on all the time. I get about 2.5 days out of my battery until I get a warning from my Nokia 820 letting me know when my battery is at 25%.
