Kindle Workaround?

Coming off of my Lumia 920 with WinPhone 8 and a working version of the Kindle app. I just bought Alcatel's Idol 4s and am unable to register Amazon's Kindle app. The app installs but does not recognize my email/password when I attempt to register it for the initual use. After a few attempts I googled the issue and found that they'd discontinued support for the app.

1: Is there a way to force the Kindle app to register?

2: Is there an ereader for WinPhone 10 that would let me read my Kindle books?

3: If not, is there an alternative reader and source of ebooks that is comparable to Amazon?
