I've been having this issue quite a long time now. Touchpad stopped working after a windows update then suddenly it worked for a couple of days and then stopped again. When I go to device manager it is as if there aren't any drivers installed for touchpad though I have Lenovo IdeaPad 5 laptop. Have tried all possible combinations of driver updates /uninstall /reinstalls /disable /enable.
Does anyone else have this problem?

I once faced a similar issue.

I went to Settings -> Windows Update and clicked on 'Check for updates'. After some time, my laptop restarted to finish installing the update and all the problems went away! Hope this works for you too.

This happens because sometimes, Windows blocks some drivers in case of errors to prevent the system from crashing.

Check the laptop's support site to update the mouse/synaptics driver and things should start working again; no need to reinstall Windows just for a small driver
