lectures captured on MP3 but how to resume

Just got the lumia 520 today but when I try to stop halfway and continue the lectures in the car it went back to beginning. Is there a way to resume? I tried to convert it to MP4 video format which someone suggested. That did not work either. Advise? Android and even IOS6-7 has this feature a few years back. My bad as I always thought something this simple had been implemented ages ago...

Tap and hold the 'ffwd' button, it'll move the file at a lightning fast pace, you can partially achieve your target that way.
If its a video file, just tap on the seekbar and you'll be there.
