Locked/Unlocked identification and apn settings how to?

I bought a lumia 822 device online through an auction site but how do i find out if its locked or unlocked?
it says "verizon" (and i want to know if its locked/unlocked before cutting my at&t sim to microsim size)

in cellular settings, below mode selection , there is
"Your phone will automatically connect to any kind of network specified by your sim card" followed by an option "add internet apn"

can anyone tell me if its locked or unlocked please?

You would have to confirm w/Verizon but AFAIK the gsm/hspa bands are unlocked so you can roam internationally. Coincidentally, this means that the phone may work on ATT or T-Mobile in the US (but with no LTE). The CDMA/LTE side only supports Verizon bands and so is effectively locked in any case.

Only way you can really tell is by cutting your sim ( or borrowing another networks sim ) and putting it in the phone. If it's locked, it will prompt you for a code .
