Lost files twice after Windows 10 update.

After windows 10 update I found my lost files, pulled them out by dragging them to the hard drive, opened them and worked on several. I then saved and closed and shut down. When I rebooted, all my files that I moved to the hard drive are now missing but those that I did not move are still sitting in windows 8 folder. Where are my files that I moved to the hard drive?
