Lumia 1520 stuck on 14393, want April Update 1709. Any ideas?

I'm well aware that I am using an unsupported phone, but I want that update anyway. However, when I go to Windows Insider Builds, it tells me to upgrade to a newer version in order to get those preview builds. I went so far as resetting my phone back to 8.1 and working my way to W10M, trying to install Windows Insider app along the way (seemed broken - something about a date issue). Regardless, when I got back to W10M, I got hit with that error again.

Is there a way to get those preview builds on this phone? Thanks for any help you can provide.

Justin, my 1520 is doing the exact same thing. I even tried the otc tool but it says I have the latest update. Funny thing is my 2 icons have more recent updates.

Crazy thing is Twitter stated their pwa would only work w w10 creators but the pwa via the web works on my Lumia.

To get the higher build versions on the x20 and x3x Lumias, you'll need to edit the registry making your device seem like it's a model that is supported by the higher build version. This will trick WU into sending you the OTA update packages.

It outlines on how to get the newest versions I did it on mine I got my 1520 running the latest version so give it a try it’s a little complicated but it’s doable and I’m not a computer person

The main tool of choice for most Windows 10 Mobile phone users is Interop Tools. You can search the XDA forums for the app and side load it to your Lumia 1520. There is also a store version. However the store version from last I checked works a bit differently and requires service provider apps to be side loaded anyway. So I just prefer to side load the full working version from the forum.
