Does anyone know the clear logic behind Microsoft blocking connections to home ad hoc wifi networks on the Lumia 900. This took a lot of research with Nokia tier 3 tech support to uncover, and interferes with the ability to download a simple Nokia map using standard data due to ATT file size limits....meaning the phone displays "must use Wifi data connection to download". Thus, a built in 'catch 22'.

Have you tried tethering with a computer? Just hook your 900 to your PC and open up the Zune software. It works on a PC, not sure about Mac.

FIGURE 8 DASH: Now, the computer is already connecting just fine to my 'hotspot' via it's internal wifi (running Windows Vista)...so won't the configuration you suggested require the Lumia/Zune to have an ad hoc capability? Please advise when possible. Thanks

As far as I know, if your computer is connected to the internet then your Windows Phone will tether its self to the computer's connection and will not try to directly connect to your router.
