Hi everyone, so I've got a strange conundrum I was hoping someone could help me with.

I'm trying to repair a Lumia 920 with a broken digitizer. I bought two different screens off of eBay (this is maybe the fifth time I've repaired a 920) and I thought both screens were duds. I tried installing them both, and both of them had no touch functions working. I tried both hard and soft resetting, and still nada.

So, next what I did was I plugged in the original broken screen (the back button and windows buttons weren't functioning, but the search button and screen itself were fine) and booted up the phone. Then, while the phone was on, I unplugged that screen and plugged in one of the duds. Then they worked! The only problem was, as soon as I put the phone to sleep and woke it back up, the screens stopped working and the phone would crash and restart.

I'm trying to figure out what to do next. Both of the screens are fully functional if I try the trick above, but that's hardly practical, and it'll crash the phone once you wake it from sleeping. Does anyone know of a way I could get these screens to work right from the get-go? Or does anyone know why the screens wouldn't function unless I did the method above? Any help you guys can give would be really appreciated!

I had similar thing happen to me. Ordered 2 from Hong Kong - both turned out crap. One didn't work at all and the second very unreliably. What blew me away though was that, even though I ordered 2pcs of the same item, one of them had 5V and the other 3V (don't remember the exact numbers though) written on the ribbon cable. Maybe different versions for different builds? Mine was probably 920.1 - bought it right after release.

So I bought a third one - an OEM part from more reliable source - still not as good as the original (I could see the little circuits from the touch layer) and three times as expensive.

Maybe that sheds a little light on Your issue?

PS: Cracked it last week, this time I made the jump and went for a 830 :) now deciding whether sell the 920 dirt cheap for parts or repair it once more and sell better..
