Lumia 925 display black & no functions available during the call

I have lumia 925. Of late, whenever I make a call, display blanks out. No functions are available like speaker phone etc. Phone becomes normal only after the called party disconnects. I can not disconnect the call. Other day, the called party was land line & probably did not disconnect the phone properly, my phone was in a hanged condition for a long time. The only way to restore was switch off using -volume & power key. This is a newly cropped up problem & does not get solved by powering the phone on / off

I suspect the proximity sensor is either defective or obstructed somehow, make sure the face of the device (esp the top part) is clear.
The proximity sensor turns off the display during a call when close to something.

Can you enable and use the Glance feature as well as double-tap-to-wake? those two also depend on the proximity sensor and if those two don't work, we have our culprit.

Are you talking about "WPCentral Question"? Its the default for almost anyone who asks a question when not logged in, if that's what youre referring to...?
