Lumia 930 Screen

I have a Lumia 930 which is 2 months old. Quite happy with the "old" phone it is everything I need. Currently I am running Windows 10 Mobile (10586.318) on it. I have the following question and although there is a lot of information regarding the Lumia 930 screen "problem" on the internet I want to ask the WPCentral users on feedback regarding this.

When I set my screen to auto brightness in a low light environment I can see purple in the grey areas. But when my phone is set to medium / high it is working 100%. I have played with the color profile and set as per instructions to green the tint, but it is too yellow for me then. How is your color profile set?

Should I send my phone in for repair? Is this something that can be fixed or is this something 'part' of the phone? Otherwise I rather live with it...

I have seen that issue on every 930 that has passed through my hands, quite a lot. My own suffers from it as well. Some people are more 'sensitive' to it than others so to speak, but if you put it next to a 1520 or a Surface Pro 3 screen it just looks crazy.

On my model, setting to color temperature about halfway to "Cool" from the middle position helps a lot. I also actually had to add a bit of slider towards "Purple" to get an acceptable grey and white color. Your model may need slightly different settings to look correct for you. Also, I'd recommend setting your "Brightness Profile" to at least 25-50%. Yeah, it will be slightly bright in dark situations, but it keeps the purple away the most.

Note: This is on a L930 running basic W10M, via the Upgrade Advisor, no Insider Builds. The same settings worked under 8.1 for me as well though.

Hi there Intrance! Thank you for your feedback. So it is then not something to worrying about at all? It is then the technology AMOLED limitation?

I know if might be difference with the setting as you say, but could you post a screenshot on your display color settings so I might try the exact options?

Thank you for your time!

I think it's not so much a limitation of AMOLED itself, but more of the exact type of screen they used in the 930. It also has issues when scrolling, where you can see purple edges around items and text just becomes a blur instead of remaining readable like on the 1520. I always thought it was really annoying and not what should have been in a flagship phone. But that is only my opinion. Like I said, some people are more sensitive to these kind of issues, others don't really notice or don't care.

Thank you so much for sending the screenshot and your opinion! It is a bit disappointing on the Lumia 930 screen quality, but as with every phone something here and there is always a 'problem' nothing is perfect :)

No problem. I used the L930 quite a long time and still sometimes use it for a few days when I get the urge. It's a great phone, but the screen has always been it's weakest point for me personally. I hope the settings help a bit. Do make sure your Brightness Profile is set somewhere between 50-100% on the slider, as even with those settings it will be purple-ish if the brightness gets too low.

Did someone noticed or is it just me, that Sunlight readability (Settings -> Extras -> display) doesn't work when automatic brightness is turned off?! Is that normal behavior or some bug in Windows 10 Mobile? (can't recall if it worked on Windows Phone 8.1)
