Any thoughts on if it means anything that Olivia Pope in Scandal still uses a Lumia 950? I noticed it in the latest episode and gives me a slimmer of hope that there will be future windows phones.

Doesn't mean a thing.

I think TV shows use Microsoft phones as a generic prop that has an active screen to look realistic for effect.

I remember Nokia phones being in movies from way back. It might be a carry over from that.

Hawaii 5-0...

... I also remember on Masterchef Junior, the kids were allowed assistance, and they were each given a Surface to Skype to someone to ask for help.

... !

My theory is that if Apple says no to paid product placement and Samsung also takes a pass... They throw in a Lumia and forego both the product placement revenue and the legal hassle of showing an iPhone/Galaxy without permission.

:D

I don't think it means anything either. I remember Bruce Wayne has a Lumia 950 in Batman vs Superman and Terminator Genisys had Lumia phones and Microsoft devices everywhere.

Most recently Pierce Brosnan's character used a Lumia in Jackie Chan's latest serious action movie "The Foreigner"

Product placement

One thing that I've seen Microsoft actually continue to do well despite their lack of market share and death of Windows Mobile is product placement. I can't tell you how many TV shows and movies where I clearly noticed and appreciated a Windows Phone being used front and center. Even in late 2017 Microsoft is still putting their phones in movies. I just went to see "The Foreigner" starring Jackie Chan and Pierce Brosnan and I immediately noticed that iconic messaging app interface and the phone app used by the government official played by Brosnan. It kept showing up all throughout the movie and they showed him using the Edge browser at one point. By the way, it was a really good movie and I highly recommend anyone to go and see it. It's not just another Jackie Chan movie as I had imagined. The plot and story really do come together well and the movie was very suspenseful.

Re: Product placement

Did the Edge browser fail to load on Brosnan or take ages to show the webpage?
Or did his overall experience look good?
Perhaps he had an Android phone with the Microsoft launcher....

All I know is, Edge continues to crash on many websites that I go to when on the PC. However I have loaded it on my Samsung S8 and it works great. It's my go to browser now on mobile.

Lol no it was clearly a Windows Phone as it showed the navigation buttons as well. But he was just scrolling on a preloaded site so no telling how long it took to load. I want to say he was using either the Lumia 950/XL because it was pretty flat in design and the HP Elite X3 design would have stood out a little more.

They are still using 950s on Hawaii Five 0, and in the latest episode they had an Invoke speaker and even used "Hey Cortana".
