Cortana + Spells = Luminous

Luminous is a simple & fun flashlight app that allows you to use your phone like a magic wand!
Just open Cortana... cast the spell 'Lumos Maxima' ... and voila!

You can also say 'Lumos/Luminous...' followed by:
• Maximus
• On
• Lights on
• Show/Give me some light

Inside the app, you can:
• Black-out the display with one tap
• Get more information about app & the developer

It's a straight forward flashlight with voice control.

Do try it & don't forget to leave a rating/review in the store.

[NOTE]
Don't have a flash enabled phone?
No problem. The apps' main screen is equipped with a bright white background, which acts as an alternate light source.

A caution for Nokia Lumia 1020 users:
Do not use the LED on your phone as flashlight for prolonged period of time. It may cause problems with camera's OIS.

Does your app incorporate safety features for the use of the LED light for prolonged periods of time? Some sources indicate that prolonged use of the LED light causes the OIS in certain phones to malfunction, leading to screeching sounds, etc.

Does your app prevent this, e.g. by displaying a warning that the user may be using the LED light for a prolonged period of time, or by incorporating some algorithm to control the output and timing of the LED so as to prevent causing OIS-related problems?

Hi,
I haven't read or heard about this until now. Will have to research it before I incorporate such a prevention scenario.
If you have any links, do share. Thanks for the heads up.

So, I switched-on the LED on my Nokia Lumia 920 for eight-straight minutes. No problems so far.

1. I did not experience any heating as some other 1020 users wrote, in the links above.
2. The camera photo/video is working fine. I tried all angles I could think of, no screeching noises.

I have been using 920 as a flashlight since day one. But never had to keep it on for more than 2-3 minutes.
The problem is most probably 1020 specific, as I did not find any other Lumia user with the complaint.
Also, I read your point about the camera module having a fan, and I think the module itself is to blame & not just the LED or LED being used as a flashlight.

I will update the app with a Caution for 1020 users, but apart from that, I think the app is cool. :D

P.S. No comments on the faulty iPhone 6/+ camera module. :p

Yeah, I think the "Caution" is enough. It also makes no sense to use the LED of a phone for very very long periods of time anyway, so most users should not encounter any problems in this regard. The app is indeed a handy tool, thanks for sharing this with us.

And, yes, no comment from my side, too, on that fruit-based competitor.
