M8 versus 1020 w/W10?

Hello! I've got a Lumia 1020, and while I love it, the fact is that the battery seems to be getting a bit old. Its not holding its charge like it used to. Now, I can try fixing it, but it seems like getting another phone (complete with upgraded specs) might be better.

I'm running W10 Mobile right now (current preview build) and love it. Because of how well it runs on my 1020, I'm less inclined to get the 950. However, the M8 seems more reasonably priced!

Thoughts? Differences?

You will love everything but the camera, a major drop in the MP and zoom. If you can live with that then the M8 with be a worthy upgrade in every other regard.

I don't know about that. I had an iPhone 5S before the M8, and anything with no sunshine just looks plain incredible on the M8 - meaning cloudy, nightshots, etc. I never had a 1020, so don't know how the low-light pics look there though...

I don't know if the M8's camera is supposed to be bad, but from everything I understand? It still doesn't come close to the 1020's. The 1020 has a monster of a camera on it. That said, its also a very *slow* camera, so there are tradeoffs.

I'll need to see where I can get myself a refurb M8 :)

Quite right, the camera is on M8 takes great shots in most conditions, however up against the 1020 it's no contest. Resolution does count for something in macro, zoom and certain lighting situations. The duo effects are unique to the M8 but more of a gimic than anything due to low usage. The ffc is a huge upgrade, but anyone who got the 1020 got it for the camera, otherwise they would have got the 920 which is the same phone minus the 42mp.

Unless you're the type who dreams of having a DSLR; the M8W as of this typing is running about $150 to $200 over on E-bay. I deliberately bought the Verizon variant so I had the option to run it on the Big 3 carriers. I do take a lot of pictures but not for aesthetic purposes. Anybody who had the M7 knows exactly what I'm talking about. Personally, I can't justify the cost of buying a brand new spanking Lumia 950 or 950 XL, not with the M8W running at one-quarter to one-third the cost. If I'm going to spend that kind of money; I'm going to buy a Canon SX-60 or maybe their SX-70.

I spent $190 for mine on eBay. It is in excellent like new condition. I have no regrets other than missing the physical shutter button. Great phone.
