Making the best of my Lumia Icon's camera?

Hi WP users:

I recently got a Nokia Lumia Icon about a week ago and am utterly disappointed at its camera's abilities. As a former iPhone user, I'm really used to auto-focus and all that vsco cam has to offer, so I am definitely having trouble adjusting.

Any suggestions for how to make the best of my Icon's camera, and apps that are good for editing?

The camera button. This isn't your iPhone's volume up button, nor an onscreen one, although you could use it.
Two steps just like a traditional camera. First step focuses, second step captures.

Recommend using Nokia Camera (Beta) for best quality and a large degree control. (there is auto though) Albeit at the cost of some speed relative to the default Camera.
Try out the tutorials in the Nokia Camera app, it gives you lots of control over a shot, a lot more than your iPhone's. (advanced controls brought up by dragging the camera capture button onscreen towards the center.

Nokia's Creative Studio and Adobe Photoshop Express come to mind.
Also check out the various purple icon-ed camera apps that Nokia has. (e.g. Refocus)
They add on some cool functionality you might appreciate.
