Mango update--texting "emoticons"

Does anyone know whether or not the update included the capability of turning off the emoticons? I hate them!

i hate them too seriously , my friends keep sending me Symbols i int even seen before, HAHA i dont understand half of them. i dont mind the , , , but when you start getting random Emoticons freaks me out man..

The emocons are rendered from Windows Live Messenger. Thats why you get the Bat symbol. I don't like them either. Metro is all about simple typography. Having Emocons is not Metro UI.

That was supposed to be fun But some people don't like that option, so MS should give on/off switch for that...
