Hello,

First post here but long time lurker. I've migrated from the Palm Pre to HTC Trophy and really love the clean interface on the wp7. I'm also loving the "Card" like multi-tasking concept taken from Palm's UI. Unfortunately, I feel like it is half-*** done since the only way to close an app is by pressing the "back" button. I'm sure someone will find a way to hack that though.

I would like to give everyone here a heads up on all U.S. carriers status on the Mango update. The following is a link straight from Microsofts site:

This is actually an old schedule for the NoDo update, if I'm not mistaken. Looks like the same page I've been looking at anyway. You'll notice at the bottom it says the page was last changed on 7/19/2011.

You're right... I made an error by posting that without fact checking. Thanks for clarifying... I feel like this is now a wasted post.

Sorry about that!

That site has not been update in over a month its not current and it is useless in light of the fact that at least 3 international acrriers have said that mango is ready for rollout on their networks and will be out later this week. The big question is when will rollouts start for Tmo ATT VZN and Sprint as well as the Canadian carriers some of whom have said they are ready also.

Just to clarify, there's no real reason to close apps because they're not actually running in the background. They're just saved in memory so they can instantly resume. You don't have to worry about performance because they're not using any CPU time. If the OS needs more memory it will kill the oldest app, so you don't have to worry about that either.

Sounds awesome but let's just say someone is using my phone and I don't want them to see what I have opened. That would mean I would have to select the app and press the "back" button to officially close it right? I do hope you see the advantage webOS has in those instances.

I hadn't thought of a situation like that. I agree, that would be a valid reason to want to close an app. You would have to select it and hit the back button in that case.

Another former (actually still current) WebOS user here. I have also been lurking. I don't know much about the WP OS to offer solid info so I've just been reading and trying to learn as much as I can about it. I never considered moving to iOS and briefly looked at Android before realizing that moving from WebOS to WP made for the easiest and most user friendly decision.

Maybe some of you guys can help me out with something??? I can't decide whether to buy a Focus off contract on the cheap on Ebay or wait until my upgrade on Oct 17 and the new lineup of WP phones. Most likely either the Focus S or Titan. How much better do you expect the Focus S to be than the Focus?

To add...

Apparently the Focus is now available at NO cost with a new contract at ATT. On Oct 17 I am eligilbe for discounted upgrades. Not sure exactly how that would impact the purchase price of the Focus S or Titan. This is my dilemma

Nobody who is talking knows that just now I suppose. I am eligible for upgrade discount on 10/04/2011. I anticipate sticking with my focus with mango assuming that it will be out on ATT by then. Will see how well focus 1.3 and mango tango!

I guess it depends on whether or not you want a Titan or Radar. If you do, it would make sense to hold out. But, if you're like me, and you can't wait, it wouldn't do a great deal of harm to get a Focus handset from ebay and either keep it as a spare or just sell it on once you upgrade.

Well, the Focus S will have the gyroscope (more accurate than the acceleration), a larger Super AMOLED Plus screen, a faster processor, a better GPU, and hspa+.

I don't know if you'll see much benefit from the gyroscope. But if you play games where you move your phone to control it, you may see increased accuracy.

The larger screen is going to be nifty. I'm not sure about the quality difference between Super AMOLED and Super AMOLED Plus.

The 1.4 Ghz CPU will make make load times on apps and games faster.

The Adreno 205 GPU will allow you to play your games without any frame-rate hiccups. I know that certain games right now (like Hydro Thunder) may have some slight stuttering when a lot is going on at the same time. That won't happen with the Adreno 205.

With all that said... the current Focus is still pretty nice. And with it being free... well... that makes the decision harder.

I personally would probably spend the $ and get a newer phone. But that may be just because I'm a gadget geek.

Also... as Big Supes stated, is to get a used device. Sure, you spend $, but you're not on contract. So if something comes out in 2012 that blows these devices out of the water you could pick it up with your contract discount.

Thanks for the responses. I don't play games so the gyro is not of any real concern. I use my phone for email and internet mostly. Well, that's in addition to texting and actually talking on the phone. It is a phone after all, right? As a WebOS guy, I am used to multitasking so I like to do a lot at the same time. Especially on the weekends with keeping up with multiple sports games going on. The Focus S and Titan have my attention when it comes to new phones and if I went with something now it would definitely be the Focus. The thing about buying a Focus off Ebay then trying to sell later after buying a higher end phone would be that I may not get much for it. If the S, Titan, Radar and new Nokia phones are flooding the WP Mango market, my old Focus would be relegated to a backup. Not a horrible situation, but not my first choice either. I guess holding off and not rushing into a decision is ok for now. Thanks again for responding

I'm guessing we won't see the "Mango Schedule" page from MS until the holiday season, once we're all good and mad that it hasn't rolled out yet.. cuz let's be honest, we have no reason to believe this will go any smoother than the NoDo rollout.
