mase123987 just started a thread titled, "Egyptian unrest affecting Christians there negatively". Hopefully it will just die out, but I see this thread as having the potential to explode. If it does explode I am going to be all over mase123987 with PM's telling him it's his thread and he needs to calm it down. We really don't have the time to babysit political/religious threads.

I sent Dave a PM about this.

He (mase, not Dave) also started this one.

It looks like he wants to promote a Republican/libertarian/conservative agenda. I happen to be libertarian, but I don't think this forum is the proper place for political debate, especially since we have a lot of members who are not from the US. I'm sure there are many forums dedicated to politics (no matter what one's political viewpoints happen to be).

I have been watching these threads for the last couple of days. I wanted to wait to comment on them. Those threads are all over the place way off topic then back again. It seams that at this point people are being civil. I hate having the political debate here this is a WP forum. That said we do have an off topic forum. Off topic is off topic.

Let's try this. Leave the threads alone. On the first reported post we close the thread. We can make an unwritten rule to do this with all political threads.

What do you all think?

Do you think it would be a good idea to make it a rule for Ambassadors that they avoid starting any threads about controversial topics like politics?

It seems to me that Ambassadors job is to help put out flames, not fan the flames.

I don't think it's a good idea for an Ambassador to use these forums to promote his political agenda.

Has he complained to you yet, about closing it?
No. He's sent me PMs for other things but not for this. He's never complained to me. All his PMs were useful (mentioning problematic threads/posters). I did tell him he should hit report, rather than send me PM, in case I'm busy, since all mods get reports and someone else could handle it if I'm not available.

I deleted one of his posts. He took a mod stance telling a new member brettly75 to "find another forum".

I did warn brettly for trolling. Brettly apologized in his PM to me. He's new to forums and didn't understand. I'm willing to give brettly benefit of doubt based on his response.

Was wondering if I was the only one that thought that when reading that post to brettly75. Glad to see someone else did too.

What do you all think about this person overall? He is over the top a bit but I think that is just because he is trying to take on a leadership role as an ambassador. I will have a talk with him about a few things he is doing. The political threads for example need to stop. I am just going to tell him we don't need those here this is a Windows Phone forum stop with the political threads. He reports a bunch of posts some are spot on some are not.

Laure you sent him and I a PM how did he handle it did he reply to you at all?

Here is what I am getting at, we need to add a member to the team soon to get trained before we get busy later this year. I need out from under the Ambassadors program its just to much work for me to cover the Ambassadors needs and take care of the forum team stuff. With that in my thoughts I am thinking I would like to ask http://forums.windowscentral.com/members/muessig.htm to take over the Ambassadors lead duties. There is a lot that we can do with this program I thought I could find the time to take care of it myself but I am failing. Its not fare to anyone for me to keep the position if I can't do all the work. I an the Administrator here so the program will remain under my tutelage but I need someone to push that team and do the paperwork. I just don't have time. That means we would need to find another person to be a moderator. How would you all feel about trying to mold mase123987 into being a moderator.

What I am thinking we do is this. I approach these guys about the jobs and get their okay's. With mase123987 he stays an Ambassador until this team is comfortable that he is making good decisions. It seams to me that for the most part he just need to be trained. We know he is not shy about expressing himself.

I am not making any moves without a unanimous decision from the team here so please give me your honest opinion of the guy. He has approached me before about being a moderator so I know he want the job. I think that is where his enthusiasm is coming from. He want s to be a mod and want's to be noticed. My question is do you all think he can be trained and are you interested in trying?

I guess one other questions I should ask is if any of you would like to be the Ambassadors lead?

Dave, I never got a response from mase123987 to the PM I bcc'd you. It's not like he wasn't online to get it.

No, I don't think mase123987 should be a mod if he ignores PMs from current mods.

I'd be comfortable with Muessig being a mod or an Ambassador Team Leader.

Okay mase123987 is out as a Mod. Picking a mod is not something we have to do right now. We are doing fine with the team we have in place for the time being. When we hit the 1700 members on line average is when I want someone trained and in place. I am thinking we will most likely get there around mid October early November time frame. It might happen sooner if Nokia releases the Bandit soon.

I am going to try to get a Skype call going with Muessig some time in the next couple of days to gage his interest. The offer is still open to any of you. Just let me know if any of you are interested in being the Ambassadors Team lead and I will go over the details.

Out of curiosity, just what paperwork and details is involved with it?

The ambassadors group has meeting just like the Mod team does. We keep stats and the A-team leader needs to reach out to his team to keep people modivated and working to meet the common goals. More on Ambassadors expectations in this thread. We are all volunteers here so its limited what we can do. We are going to start trying to give these guys some type of reward its all still new very much a work in progress.

Here are our stats from the last meeting.

What the A-team leader needs to do is use motivational techniques and rewards to get the team stats up. Soon we will need to start dropping people who are not performing. We an Asana group setup to keep track of guides. Keeping up with the group and putting all the guides written and needed in Asana is just something I don't have time for. Its a challenge and an opportunity for sure.
