Message notifications - no sound

Hi. Is anyone else having the problem where there is no audio notification for text messages?
It's the same with WhatsApp. I'm missing loads of messages because I can't hear when they're coming through.
I'm running W10M, current production build on a L930.
How do I fix this? It's becoming a real pain in the a**!!!

Update: I followed every set of instructions I found online to get this working but eventually decided a hard reset was the only option. Didn't do anything so now I'm back on WP8.1.

Try going to Settings -> Personalisation -> Sounds -> Manage app sounds and check if you enabled notifications for Messaging and WhatsApp.

This just started happening to me since I updated to 14295.1005 (slow ring). My phone was getting sluggish so I re-booted to find I had 3 missed calls...never rang, never was notified. It's been working OK now but I'm pretty paranoid.
