Is Skype not baked into the messaging hub? Thought they would have replaced messenger with Skype so that I could message peeps from my computer.

It is a preview, some apps are getting updates or will get updates soon.

I think Skype will use the third-party integration to allow the Skype to be updated frequently. Third-party apps can now integrate themselves into the hubs. Example, Facebook and Skype chat, once the apps are installed... will show up in the Messaging and People hubs.

Hope so because right now it's a pain for me because I was used to use Messenger with my girlfriend since she has an WP8 too.
The Messaging Hub was a wonderful experience, right now looks like a joke

You can open a room with your girlfriend and chat over this one. they are still listed in the Messaging hub and are the only group conversations that ever worked in there.
it is based on the old messenger protocol. unfortunately you cant get this to work on outlook.com or anywhere else than the phone

I did a test monday because we have a room but I was not sure if it was via Messenger or SMS
anyway the you can't move form SMS to messenger. so it could not be an option.

Im unable to use the messaging hub at all since the 8.1 update. Says my SIM card is missing or damaged. (Ive never HAD a SIM card, and it always worked fine). Also, the only contacts it lists seem to be Facebook contacts, which leaves out MOST of the people I used messenger with. Anyone know how I can fix this?

It's not really a messaging hub now, basically it's only for texting. So no sim, no messaging.

Thanks, I hope that's only temporary. The whole point of the Messaging was to be able to combine texting and chat so you could keep a conversation going whether you were texting or chatting, on your phone or on your desktop, etc.
