Messenger and wp8.1

Hey there, my brother has a 925 on 8.1
And we were texting and I said, he should safe on texts and send tru the messenger.. But he can't?

Did they remove the messenger from the os?
Do we have to open the Skype app to chat? How why?!

Please help! :0

FB messenger integration was removed from 8.1. They have a separate app now.

If you mean the Facebook Messenger, it is removed from the OS, if I remember correctly it was so that it wouldn't require a OS update just to update the Messenger but instead just an app update. (Integrated Facebook, Twitter and other social media required a Windows Phone update if they wish to fix\add or improve anything.)

You can search for it in the app store if you do not wish to use Skype (although it is an alternative.)

NO i mean the microsoft messenger, the same u use in rooms and such.
Ehm..just called messenger I think, Skype can also receive them..but the messenger app is faster than the Skype one

Ohhhhh the MSN Messenger, ya it got removed from WP8.1 in favour of Skype if you wish there is WhatsApp that can help. Skype is a bit of a battery hog.

Ah..but why? Or at least keep the Skype messaging in the messenger app (the one also used for texts)

I think its a shame, I mean its like removing that apple messaging service from iPhone! That be outragous, so is this!
I loved being able to chat on phone, laptop and what else, ow browser! It was awesome..but gone now
