Microsoft band 2 is as bad as 1

That is quite the ordeal. It sounds like you have some of the worst luck. I did go through three Band 1's. Two had power issues and one had a bad clasp mechanism. So far, my Band 2 has performed reliably and seems very accurate. Hope your luck changes.

Strange. I bought my wife a Band 1 for Mothers Day last year. She wears it every day and it still works. Occasionally she has slow syncing issues but other than that it has kept humming along.

In fact she has worn it so much that the rubber band part is starting to tear.

I'm about to send my second Band 2 back. The first had a bad battery, the second battery started better but is now even worse than the previous. I get only 22-24 hours out of it with minimal usage (that is: watch mode rotate on, activity reminder off, 6 different tiles, haptic & screen brightness to low, no gps usage).

And Josh I'm really treating it well... I just really don't get why a samsung gear s2 gets 3 days of usage without a HUGE battery block on your wrist, and my microsoft band hardly gets 1 day while I don't use the only difference between the two watches (gps).

Also well impressed with my Band2, with almost 24/7 since launch day. No wear and tear vs. my Band1 which did not live up to daily careful use. Band2 mirrors the gym heart rate and calories almost identically from their machines, so I'm happy it is accurate enough for me. Mine is worn face on inside of wrist, that is how it is designed to get the best heart rate readings, are you wearing yours like that?

Microsoft is still new at this. They'll keep improving their fitness band features and materials and the manufacturing processes over time. In the meantime, look at it this way, you are part of the privileged bleeding edge cohort.

Microsoft will have to find ways to improve the battery life while maintaining the functionality. Fitbit is releasing their new $200 Fitbit Blaze in March as an Apple Watch competitor. It seems to have most of the fitness band features as the Fitbit Surge and is expected to have a 5 day battery life.

I'm guessing you have all of your personal data up to date?

My wife and I both had the Band 1. She had a GPS issue with her first one and got it exchanged. I had charging issues and BT issues.

We traded ours in for Band 2's and they both run great. I also wonder if wearing a chest strap at the same time, interferes with the Band readings?

I own a band 2 after owning 7, count them, 7 band 1s.

WORDS!

Now, I'm on my second band 2.

Lesson, the Microsoft Band isn't for you. Use a different product.

Somebody remind me not to lend the OP my Band. I couldn't take it coming back saying, "..look Jaz, same thing happened to me..6 times. I think you should call Microsoft." jk.

Man its hard to imagine someone having such bad luck so many times.

On my first band here and I get easily 48 hours out of a charge.
Heart rate and calorie burn seem accurate enough (no device is completely accurate, just google the class action lawsuit against FitBit). I play competitive tennis and run and all my readings have been acceptable for both steps, calories, and distance when and when not using GPS.

Only thing I can say it my screen already has a couple of small scratches. (gorilla glass my @ss!!)

Anyways, OP you either have terrible luck, quite possibly are abusing your band, or are just the type of consumer that is never truly satisfied with a product and makes a "mountain out of a mole hill".

I've used my band 1 on very hard workouts with a lot of sweat involved, never had a glitch. Seems very weird that you're having bad luck like this. Feels like there is more to this story...

I think comparing to chest strap is just not going to be the same. Especially for serious detailed tracking like you want.

For me, as a crossfitter, I find it somewhat interesting to see which workouts causes me to burn more but I don't actually use the info for anything else. Like I don't count my calories, ... well for some endurance type workouts, I spot check my heart rate to help try and figure out the pace I can go.

Sweat wise, I find the band2 is awesome for dealing with it thus far,

Otherwise it's sleep tracking and notifications for me!
