Even though I know I would not have Cortana on my android phone, would the default voice command system from my android phone work with the microsoft band?

At this time there is no way (AFAIK) to get the band to attempt to initiate voice commands when connected to an OS other than a Windows Phone.

Apparently it's more of an API issue - apps can't trigger Google Now as easily. I'm pretty sure the band could just emulate a Bluetooth headset like other smartwatches but it could take some time

That really stinks. Was looking forward to getting this thing but thats definitely a deal breaker. :-\

I noticed when I installed it, it displayed and give me an option to link with "touch-less control" (the service that supports voice commands on my Android). Not sure what that means. I thought it might give me voice control, but so far no luck. Or perhaps it allowed voice control to manipulate MS Health.

I doubt if it's difficult to route the audio to the phone - the trick may be in picking up a response and getting it back to the display. Without that, it would seem to me that the feature would be pretty useless.
