Microsoft "cracked TV".

Remember the hype about how Steve Jobs had "cracked television" by coming up with a unified GUI between Live TV and app channels? Well:



It has everything the consumer would want. It has the Live TV section, app channels and a "My Channels" which I suspect is favorite-d channels from both as well as search. There is nothing missing in this GUI. All that matters is the licensing deals to differentiate Apple & Microsoft on this. So the idea that Steve Jobs was this singular genius who invented everything years before anyone else had a clue is demonstrably FALSE.

That's interesting. You're right that this GUI has everything consumers would want.

Thing is I'm sure the Apple TV GUI will be comparable, but their huge advantage is price. You can get their guide for $99 and the Microsoft costs $499. I think Microsoft should come out with an XBox Lite set-top media box that does the same thing the Apple TV does - media streaming only at $99.
