Microsoft has finally acknowledged the name "Windows Phone 8.1"

I think that was all but a given to match Windows 8.1, even though there were reports that they could have done something crazy and call it Windows Phone 9.

There was some. I've heard some people say windows phone 9, while some people thought they would make it 8.2 to align with Windows 8.2 (supposedly). Plus, Daniel even said that Microsoft would never acknowledge WP8.1's existence, so that didn't help.

Considering the way the last update allowed WP 8 devices access to such greater hardware abilities and added a couple of functions, I have always been surprised GDR3 was not "WP 8.1", and then thisHUGE update "WP 8.2". They are giving themselves a lot of room to grow under the WP 8 designation.

Snowmutt, I normally agree with you, but in this instance I have to pull a Freddy Mercury and say "no, no, no, no, no, no ,no, Mama Mia, Mama Mia". Since that would be a death sentence for Microsoft. GDR3 didn't have much in it aside for changing notification sounds, the close app update, and driving mode. If Microsoft had said that was the next OS, they would've been laughed out of existence. I'm glad they waited longer and brought all of this stuff.
