Microsoft is working on a new Xbox 'Career' system with levels and Avatar loot crates

A few months ago Xbox platform chief Mike Ybarra teased that Microsoft was looking into ways to extend the Xbox achievement system beyond Gamerscore, and this just might be it.
We've seen some features that Microsoft is currently testing that refer to a new "Career" system for Xbox Live, and while it seems to be in a very early phase, Microsoft is actively committing code and other systems to support its functionality.

The new Career system could be the extended Gamerscore system Ybarra teased to us in a previous interview, where he noted that Gamerscore doesn't fairly represent the accomplishments of esports players or other gamers who might spend the majority of their time in a single game. This new Xbox Career feature might alleviate that.
