Dear Mr. Panay - Windows Central and numerous other sites have followed the work of independent developers who have ported both Windows 10X and 11 to the original Surface Duo. Boost your courage, stand up to Nadella, and deliver the REAL Surface Mini (preferably in the moleskine inspired Surface Duo design) with FULL 8cx power, 5g, and 16gb/512gb glory running Windows 11 - no watered down underpowered processors or Android half-tries.

I have been buying desktops and laptops for 40 years and have never purchased an underpowered computing device. Nor have I ever heard a friend or colleague describe their laptop or desktop as underpowered. Finally, I have never seen anyone provide any evidence to support their clam of "underpowered"...

Here's hoping the smaller pro ditches the large chin and forehead bezel, or at least shrinks them a good amount. The surface laptop go looks so much more premium than all the flagship sufaces with it's slim and (almost) symmetrical bezels. I just haven't warmed up to a lot of current surface designs lately

please actually release 🙏🤞
please be somewhat decent as a basic consumption/note device
please look somewhat decent (OG Surface Pro X, but in small or Lumia like)

I have been waiting for a mini Lumia/Surface tablet since around the 2014 Lumia 2020 and the shortly before launch cancelled "Surface Mini" - both of which Zac revealed a good while ago.

11-in Surface Pro is what I have been waiting for since I first started using surface RT 10 years ago. Over the years I have used Surface RT 2, Surface Pro 3, Surface 3, Surface Go (now typing this comment on Go). I really love the form factor of Go, but I hope the specs get bumped up like a Pro, especially the display. Go series' screen resolution is terrible. I have been using 1440P screen on mobile phone since many years ago and 90Hz screen since 4 years ago. I really hope there is a small surface that has a great display with ppi more than or close to 300 and refresh rate at 120Hz.

More thoughts on the 11" (Luxor?) Surface Pro 10 needed features
  1. A fanless Core i5 processor option
  2. 5g on the Intel version as well
  3. At least a 16gb ram option
  4. 512gb and 1tb storage options
  5. Thunderbolt 4 (at least two)
PLEASE do not limit it to WOA only, especially for the 5g SKU - we NEED 5g in the Intel models as well

Goofy stuff here. The only real application for smaller (literally smaller screen devices) Windows is for devices like Steam Deck. And most of that is just getting Windows out of the way to essentially start a launcher in kiosk mode. Why would you want a Windows phone without the phone part?

11 inch Pro is so silly. If anything, we need 16" Pros.

There is NOTHING silly or goofy about either of these observations. The "WinPad" (a full power ultra-portable convertible based on the iPad Pro dimensions) has been the dream machine of many road warriors for years, and unfortunately the Surface Go is just too underpowered to give you that performance when docked as your PC at your desk. All you have to do is look around the blogs for the support for Surface Neo to see demand. Zac's report of an i5 class performance, if it delivers 5g, would make this a single device solution.

Same goes for a full powered digital moleskin replacement in the Surface Duo form factor. Relying on Google Android, which has YET to deliver an ARM compatible version of Chrome, and now their biggest competitor in the AI market, is a folly. The Surface Duo is still the best hardware in folding devices (single screen folding devices cannot hold a candle to the Duo) for any productivity application on the go.

Zac - still no updates on the 11" Surface Pro?

The Surface Pro is about the size of a 12.9" iPad Pro. Plenty of great hardware for Windows. Garbage software for Windows devices. Surface Neo was never real. Total vaporware.

I think both 11" and 15-16" Surface Pro devices make sense. Both more niche than the 13" one but have valid niche use-cases (especially from a professional point of view, otherwise Surface Go might make more sense). And on my Surface Go (10.5") I never use control panel regularly anyway, only the modern settings menu and its fine for 99% of the time when you need to delve into the settings.

The 11" screen is excellent for taking (field) notes and for lots of programma's for adding some small additions here and there. As dkstrauss mentions you would do the bulk of the work on a larger screen when docked (or on some other pc and share it by the cloud or by some C&P program).
For example I can run Visual Studio on my Go (and actually used it for compiling and testing some stuff). Imo main advantage of a smaller Pro would be the lower weight, allowing it actually to be used as a tablet comfortably.

A 15-16" Surface Pro is something I would definitely buy, since I work a lot at places where there are no docks or extra screens (I do not think MS will ever release it but maybe some OEM will (fingers crossed).
