Microsoft taking over Nokia: What is your best case scenario?

Nokia will be exactly the same, but now they can talk to Microsoft sooner and get new phones out faster. :D

The deal should be closed today keep refreshing nokia.com till you see that it directs you to microsoftmobile.com lol

Wow. For a thread asking for the "best case scenario", ya'll are really bumming me out here.

Best case: MS makes this painless. As I have posted before on these threads, this all comes down to 1 basic philosophy:

Either MS keeps the creative teams together that made Nokia the device maker it is, or they lose these people. It isn't about the name, it is about the engineers, the designers, and the production teams. Keep those people in place, and all will be good in Microsoft Mobility. Lose them, and while it may not be doomsday, it just won't be the best case scenario.

Losing the brand recognition of Nokia will hurt, but "Lumia" has become a recognized name as well. Stick to that, and buyers will still be aware of your product.

I am cautiously optimistic.

I want them to at least brand the future phones Nokia and keep improving their cameras in the phones. If not I'll be really sad as a Nokia fan:'(

The thing that I am axiously anticipating is how other WP OEM's would react to Microsoft producing a phone on its own. When choosing to buy Windows Phone units, will they choose a Microsoft Mobile phone or a phone from another OEM (i.e. Samsung Ativ phone)?

Remember the situation with Google and Motorola? Motorola seems to be very 'Google-ized' that Samsung further pushed an attempt to create a very forked UI (which hints a forked Android version too) with the release of the Galaxy Note Pro series. So Google sold Motorola to relieve the pressure with Samsung. But the case with Android is its being open-source.

I think the best case scenario is that Microsoft doesn't crush Nokia with management and let the design and engineering team in Finland do what they do. Microsoft just inherited a ton of manufacturing from Nokia. Hopefully Microsoft will continue to use Nokia's manufacturing for their phones, and maybe even expand their own products like Xbox and Surface to be built by Nokia instead of using Foxxconn.

The ultimate best case is that Nokia continues to provide their unique vision and design to smartphones and devices, and that Microsoft can use Nokia to operate their devices divisions more efficiently.
