They wasted 2 years buying a company that already puts their games on Xbox instead of securing Japanese titles for Xbox gamers. Earth Defense Force 2017 was exclusive to 360, now we don't get the goddamn things ported at all. They're ported to literally every platform EXCEPT Xbox. Spend some of those billions to get Japanese games back on Xbox. There's no excuse for Japan treating the platform the way it does. Porting has never been easier, and physical releases aren't required. People in the west buy the games. They wouldn't lose money on it. They just refuse to do it. Much like they're racist about the regional releases on PS4/5. Every mainline EDF has a Japan region version and a "Worldwide release" where everyone in the worls plays together EXCEPT Japan. The Japanese release stays Japanese only; the lobbies never mix online and the other languages are never patched in.
