I have pre ordered Gta V for PC and the first thing I want to do when I get my copy is play with my friends online. I live in India and broadband connection available here are slow and costly. Currently I have a 512kbps broadband connection and I want to play GTA V online. Will I be able to play it?

it is preferable that the internet should be confined to unlimited plan. Although moderate internet usage is expected, you're still better of with unlimited plan. In case you don't go for unlimited plan, pls also dont go for Airtel broadband. They show more consumption than what actually to have consumed.

I think you'll be able to definitely play it on that connection.
I've run Planetside 2 in all its MMOFPS glory on a 1 Mbps connection, the ping was good though, and that's what matters.

However, the problem is patching and stuff. If the PC port is like most other online games, it'll need periodic patching, and those downloads can get to be pretty big.

Can you shed some light on ping. I mean what is it? How much should it be?

Ping is basically how laggy an internet connection is, its quality.

Long ping times mean that communication between your computer and the game server has significant lag.
Meaning gameplay can be interrupted, you can see characters teleport, etc.

I think this page says it better than I could.
