My friends 8XT has wireless charging?? From HTC??

So, my friend has been having issues with his 8XT. The speaker was sounding bad. Anyways, Sprint customer service sent him out a new phone. When I took the back off the phone, this is what I saw.



Has anyone else seen this. Did Sprint neglect to detail a great selling feature?

Are you sure it has wireless charging? The WPCentral review did not mention this feature.

No. I'm not. I have no way to test my theory. But it does look like an induction coil. I peeled back the sticker to check it out. But for all I know this is some kind of antenna. Does anyone else have this on their 8XT?

Find a wireless charger and test it. then you will know for sure. It's only got 2 pins, I Know on the Nokia 822, the antenna needed 2 pins but, the wireless charging needed 4 pins, I know this is HTC vs. Nokia but, it might help you here.

Pretty sure that is just the NFC.

Looks like a connection for the antenna to me. The HTC Radar has something that looks just like when you pull the bottom off to insert the SIM card.

If you trace the wires, they don't connect to the battery. That coiling in the rear case is the NFC antenna, it is NOT wireless charging. Do NOT attempt to set it on a wireless charging pad.

It's either NFC
an antennae (my HTC Aria had something like that)

so you're out of wireless charging luck, but you could always try DIY, at your own risk of course, since I don't think its been attempted before.
