Ordered the Nokia Icon from a Ebay retailer and was delivered today, it looks like it never was opened up! but the unit had 8.1 installed.
So far very impressed over the 928! Just miss the Glance and the speaker is ever slightly so attenuated compared to the 928.
Excellent display, camera and maps already used this afternoon!
I will observe the battery life the next few days.
A wish list would be voice typing equal to Google on Android, hoping Xfinity would get there act together with Windows applications...
So far a winner!

What do you mean by retailer? You likely bought a used device if it had 8.1 installed on it. Just so you know.

If it's used that is fine, looks brand new and the accessories never removed for the retail box.
Firmware revision 1028. 3539.1402.1042
Hope that helps.

It doesn't matter what I do, I get about 6hrs of battery life on my 620, wether I'm heavily using it or it's sitting in my pocket in sleep mode.

WiFi on/off, Cortana on/off, backgound apps enabled/disabled, email sync push/2hr, location services on/off, etc. Before the update (for me was 8.0.3/Amber, aio still hasn't released black), if the phone were in my pocket not being used, I'd easily get 30-36hrs.

Exactly what is happening to me... maybe the problem is going from amber drivers to 8.1 (i did have gdr3 though) i want to go back to 8. I will miss tons of stuff but currently my phone is almost useless!

How interesting ...download my music and noticed that the device has the installed hardware for FM radio. Good..

Welcome to the fold, I've been very impressed with the Icon (coming from the iDevice world I keep typing iCon  )

I love my Icon too. I completely forgot that it has wireless charging though! Now I will have to look into that...

It means that you have the latest public release of the firmware. Further performance enhancements are likely to accompany the release of Cyan. For a minute, I thought you had an OEM installed version of 8.1. If so, that would have been an early release of Cyan. Stranger things have happened!

Nokiasoft also has a car dock with built in wireless charging but I haven't been able to confirm whether the Icon will fit. I'm assuming that it is partially adjustable for a nice firm hold.

InlineV,
Thanks for the information. When purchased I assumed it was 8.0, was about to file a complaint, but so far it's working ok. I have noticed that the Wifi may take longer to hook-up and the Nokia voice takes a back seat to Google voice.
I still miss the 928 with the 8.0! But that's me ...

Yes, it is the CR-200, and yes the Icon fits... sort of. The only problem is the right arm presses on the camera button. I trimmed some of the rubber off to keep from it mashing it down. Otherwise, it works great.

They changed the clamp dimensions on the CR-201 to better accommodate the 1520, I'm wondering if it'll be better or worse for the Icon.
