I would like to see a good camera phone as a lumia 1020 successor by the end of 2015, since the lumia 1020 would get outdated then. For me that would mean a similar phone to the 1020 itslef just a little more at new standards.

-At first the camera, i like the 41 megapixels and if the possibility is there by that time maybe more could be possible but it should really increase a lot to make it more usefull, for example 50 megapixels won't be much better but if possible some cheap way 200 MP would matter. But at least a 41 MP and also a secondary camera for depth recognition. or some other software solution like nokia refocus but then not taking that much time to take several pictures.
-Of course the xenon flash is great.
-A case like the camera case on the lumia 1020 would be great but with the extra feature to snap on additional lenses wich are standard available. (we've seen this already as a glued ring on the 1020 camera case but to have it officially there lined op correctly would be great. (maybe the case could even include a port for an external flash altough i''m not sure this would be used much and it shouldn't ruine the design.
The case can be bigger than the lumia 1020's just make it as big as about a small point and should camera to include a huge battery.(maybe the case could even have a swapable battery:))
- Quick image proccessing thus a good CPU and enough RAM to take several pictures and then let it save them with a bit more time.

That for the camera part. For the rest I would like to see
- 5 inch screen
- new processor (maybe snapdragon 810 or better if available at the time)
- 4 GB ram maybe (or the imgae proccesing)
- dedicated camera button and volume controls
- hard front buttons (not the software one's)
- wireless charging included.
- better battery( a battery of a new generation would be great, one that is much bigger or charges faster)
- severall color housings and as wel a black aluminum housing.
- it i could be watertight that would be great for underwater filming. (since the touchscreen probably won't work under water make it recognize when it's under water an have a smart hardware button combination for using camera, for example volume controls for zooming and/or a way to change filming and photo's.
- other obvious things like nfc bluetooth and stuff at the standards of the time.
- fingerprint scanner is not really an usefull thing in my eyes so i don't need that but some functionality like the goldfinger would be nice to see.
-for the design i like the 1020 but i also liked the design i saw once with was a mockup which had a light glowing along the whole side which was adjusted to the theme color of the phone (no idea if this is even possible in a cheap way but it definitely looked cool)

For the rest the camera software should be great like that of the nokia pro cam but than improved. for example always take several pictures for depth recognition and face changing like nokia smart cam. Also the moving picture (a movie from the second before and after the picture) would be cool

I know this sounds not possible in a cheap way today but i hope by the end of 2015 it might get possible. And if not at least an follow up camera phone with the camera case i described would be great.

Just wanted to share my ideas with you, please let me now what you like and what not and tell me which features you think will be possible to have and tell me what i am missing.:excited:

I just got so excited that i might even make a drawing of the whole thing

41mp is more than enough in my opinion. But it would be great if they found a way to add optical zoom. Even 3x optical zoom would be awesome with a 41mp camera.

I'd also like super fast image processing. A dedicated processor for the camera would be ideal.

And with pictures of this high resolution, there of course needs to be a lot of RAM and storage as well as the ability to accept micro SD cards. 2 GB of RAM and 64 GB storage please.

Made some changes! My dream imaging flagship from Nokia!

Nokia Lumia 1030, Q3-Q4 2014:

Screen: 5.2" AMOLED @ 1920x1080 (or 2560x1440). Aspect ratio of 16:9.
Processor: Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 @ 2.5-2.7 Ghz.
GPU: Adreno 420.
Battery: 3000 mAh, non-removable.
RAM: 3 GB, 1 GB dedicated to camera.
Storage: 32/64 GB, expandable via micro-SD @ 128 GB.
Camera: Dual-camera system;
1) Primary Pelican Imaging computational camera module @ 12-18 MP with Heptagon microlenses.
2) Secondary Zeiss legacy module @ 12-20 MP with a focal zoom at 4X.
- Both modules will use the InVisage QuantumFilm for their sensors.
- The sensor images would be cross-referenced to render a high-resolution image with an unparalleled low-light performance and the ability for an optical zoom (4X) without added thickness or moving parts.
- Xenon flash and a two-tone dual-LED video light.
- A capacitive camera button on the side (no need for a 2-stage since there's no autofocus).

It'll also need Glance, HAAC microphones and Qi wireless charging built-in of course. Front-facing speakers would be a bonus, but I fear the phone would get a face only a mother could love then. A front-facing camera @ 5 MP would be great, but I'd be fine with any FFC that can deliver a decent quality, unlike most current FFCs.

Thanks for your opinion, i just don't understand why lots of people want a micro sd card slot. I have always had enough space on my phone. maybe some sort of feature should be made that if you insert some kind of a usb stick the phone will automaticcally transfer the photo's to it for those moments you really need that extra space when taking lots of pictures.

Here's what I want.

Nokia Lumia 1030, Q3-Q4 2014:

Screen: 5.2" AMOLED @ 1920x1080 (or 2560x1440). Aspect ratio of 16:9 or 15:9.

- Capacitive camera button on the side (no need for a 2-stage since there's no autofocus).

It'll also need Glance and Qi wireless charging built-in of course.

Thanks as well. You definitely know more about camera solutions than i do. i had a look on those site's you linked (thanks for that) you are suggesting less MP camera parts but with the technology you linked( focal zoom) would that still give you the ability to zoom afterwards because i liked that in the 1020 and more MP also gives you the ability to print the pictures on big formats.

Another question, do you think these technologysch will be available in a short time period for a reasonable price?

About the capacitive button i'm not sure, i think the feel of a hard button is better. but of course i dont now for sure until i tried the capacitive type you suggested. at least it should be big enough to be sure to hit it when you want to take a picture and dont have to look for it.

If the camera does the cross-referencing job properly, you'd get a super-resolution image that you can zoom around in. A focal zoom means you only have the central part of the lens enhanced though, so the zoom level would probably be different in different parts of the picture in the post-processing. I'm afraid I don't know enough about the underlying algorithms to adequately answer you properly here.
One really cool part about dual-cameras though; If you add two low-resolution lenses you can combine them to form a high-resolution image using computational algorithms. Toshiba has done this with two 5 MP sensors which have a 13 MP image output. So imagine if Nokia did this same solution with two 20 MP sensors. At the same level of improvement you'd get 52 MP output images! If you also account for the image enhancements of reduced noise, reduced motion blur and improved low-light performance you'll get something far more capable than a Lumia 1020. Theoretically.

Another question, do you think these technologysch will be available in a short time period for a reasonable price?

Apparently Pelican Imaging already have a functional module, but the issue has been to get the computing power required as well as limiting the insane power drain their module causes because of that computing demand. Heptagon are already in full progress with their wafer microlenses (and have delivered over a billion units globally thus far). I don't know how far InVisage have gotten with their Quantum Film, but apparently far enough that Nokia have invested in them.

As for the costs... The Pelican Imaging camera module is about 20 % the cost of a legacy camera module to produce, so it's extremely cheap in production, lenses included. A 20 MP Zeiss module (like the one in the 1520) is about 40 % the cost of the 1020 camera module. So together they'd cost about 50-60 % of what the 1020 camera module cost. As for the InVisage QuantumFilm, if they can actually deliver what they say they can it'd be a comparatively expensive sensor technology considering they hold the patent for a very powerful technology. Perhaps that's expensive enough to draw the cost up to 1020 levels, or perhaps they can keep the price down via agreements. We'll see - if they even include it!

By the way, I'm not sure if you know this. Nokia have already invested rather large sums into each of these companies with their Nokia Growth Partners (NGP) Venture Capital division.

About the capacitive button i'm not sure, i think the feel of a hard button is better. but of course i dont now for sure until i tried the capacitive type you suggested. at least it should be big enough to be sure to hit it when you want to take a picture and dont have to look for it.

I was mostly curious about a capacitive camera button to keep the sides beautifully designed and smooth, and since we wouldn't need a two-stage shutter it seemed like the right moment to introduce one! But I agree with you, the physical button has advantages. I wouldn't mind either solutions to be honest!

So with everything you've read now, do you have any new thought about your dream successor to the Lumia 1020?

I think that your idea's with those new technologies should be put to use, as you say they are even cheaper, now it's up to microsoft mobile to make a new killer camera phone. I hope they make such a phone which really stands out of the other phones(best camera). And i hope they deffinitely make some camera case on which you can screw an additional lens :).

I have also been thinking about your capacitive butten. For a special camera Phone it should really be a hard button to give you the feel of a camera. For other phones the design might look great with capacitive buttons but i think the problem is that when ou hold the phone in your hands you will probably be touching the sides a lot. If the volume keeps changing or the camera app shows up constantly that won't make me very happy:eck:
