My opinions and predictions about Microsoft and it's divisions.

Most of this is my opinion and speculation so take this with a grain of salt. But based on decisions made and what Satya Nadella and other heads have said this is what I think may happen or should happen with Microsoft and it's divisions.

Xbox: With the Entertainment Studios becoming null and void, and more of a strong embrace of gaming within the division here is what I think. 1. A strong embrace of the Japanese market. I know this might be a pipe dream for most Xbox gamers. But PlayStation 4 is Sony's only revenue Generator for Sony besides it's movie division. Nintendo is just living off Mario and Zelda. Scalebound an ID @ Xbox may help with some of that. But considering acquiring Capcom and working with Sega/Sammy on exclusive Japanese Titles like the rumored Shenmue three may make it better. 2. Don't let Sony rub exclusive add on's Microsoft's face like what was done with Bungie's Destiny. 3. Find some way to have old Xbox or Xbox 360 Games played on Xbox one. Through emulation or cloud stream like Sony will do with Playstation Now. 4. Make Xbox music less of a subscription service and have it be like Itunes, Amazon, or Google play. Where you can by a song and stream it through one drive and put song's you already have in that Xbox music/one drive playlist. 5. Only have Microsoft developed mobile games be Xbox powered. For example EA needs to make games on windows/windowsphone like what Disney and Gameloft make currently. Also Microsoft is making a good decision by bringing Xbox mobile games to ios, and Android not just Windows. 6. Bring windows apps to Xbox one (no brainer).

Lumia and Surface: 1: Do what you can to keep the Nokia name. Even pay Nokia networks 12 years from now to keep the name. Put the Nokia name on surface for crying out loud. 2. Keep the infamous Nokia ringtone on the Lumia smartphones I mean the only other hardware company that has their own tones is Apple. 3. Bring back ngage as a major competitor to PSVita and Nintendo ds (I know I should have put this under Xbox but ngage was a Nokia cellphone hardware thing, which Microsoft now owns).

Windows: 1. Make any form of windows as user friendly as possible. 2. Teach more people how to use live tiles.

Office: Move this more to the net like what Google is doing.

Bing Maps: Give Nokia's here networks more control over this. The service should be sold to here.

Finally: Unlike Google and other companies Microsoft needs to keep names of what it owns different: I.E. Skype, Nokia, Xbox, Windows, Bing, E.T.C. No sign of the name Microsoft stamped anywhere on them.

What do you think?

I agree with this part, because when I talk about liking Microsoft stuff, especially when it comes to mobile, I get strange looks from my friends and co-workers.

Based on what? News reports? Blogs? Experience? Navel Gazing?

Based on what has been rreports, and what saw when people were in a buying frenzy when windows 95 was released. Also have you even seen what Apple and Google are trying to do to collapse Microsoft?

Why would they do that? A majority of their license sales are from big business and they are not quick to move to cloud-based solutions.

I agree to a point. But Google is trying as hard as it can to get these same people. I mean google is trying to find a way to make chrome os and their cloud based solutions a cheap alternative for the same big businesses. Mainly to wipe Microsoft off the map.

You're making zero sense. They already have an Office on the internet called Office Online. Businesses choose not to use that and buy billions of dollars of an actual copy of Office via Office 365 or standalone copies. Why would they get rid of that? If anything, not being web-only gives them an advantage over Google for productivity (one of many, I may add)

Yeah Steve Ballmer has a lot to do with that. I think Bill Gates should have listened to his co-founder Paul Allen and not given the CEO position to him. But the damage was done, plus with major failures of products like, Windows Vista, Zune, and Kin. Also major monopoly complaints to the point that the US Justice Dept got involved in the late 90's. Microsoft's name has been soiled. Both Gates and Ballmer did not seem to realize this to the point where we are now. I hope Satya Nadella realizes this and act accordingly. Microsoft can be put on the product but I think in the background. And like I said before Bing maps being sold to Nokia's here would help with a sort of fight against Google maps. Microsoft and Nokia will not just tag team attack Google on phones and tablets, they can unite against Google maps.

I see. Well, run on with that. Many of us know its history from a different vantage point. Not from reports, we were there! lol.

I guess Microsoft won't trust in Nokia ever again. Maps is a key part of the product, Nokia could stop the development of Here and force Microsoft to buy the unit for an inflated price. That's what they did with the devices unit.

Adding the severance benefits, Microsoft paid 8.2 billion for the Lumia brand, 12.500 workers, and $600 million in loses per quarter. How many phones does Microsoft has to sell per quarter to justify this valuation? The ASP of Lumia phones is so low.

Don't be surprised I was there too.

I'll stand on my earlier comment. For the record, what I see google attempting to do is dominate internet search and web services especially web advertizing. What Apple is continuing to do is survive with its IPhone. Microsoft, like Blackberry is paying a price for their lack of focus on the NEW mobile sector and assuming they cannot be impacted by what is going on. Microsoft can still attack from the center because it has vastly more resources to do that than does Blackberry but they must deliver a sweeter product that is uniquely Microsoft. Time will tell with this new CEO how we win this. I'm not so sure he has the backbone for this task yet.
