Need to make install thumb drive for W10

How big of a thumb drive do you need to put Windows 10 install on it so I can install from my thumb drive?

For some reason my DVD drive no longer seems to work. Been a long time since I used it and today I can't get it to see blank disks and write to them. Will read from disks but something seems to be broken.

I am going to download the W10 .iso.

I've never used a thumb drive for this before and it's been a long long time since I used an .iso file.

As I remember I run the .iso and it will ask me where to put it and I just point to the thumb drive ... right?

They say a USB stick with 4 GB free. For sanity I would recommend an empty, freshly formatted stick of 8GB or higher. If you have a USB 3.0 slot, use a 3.0 stick to help speed up things.

I would also recommend that you try to do a clean install if you can. You can make the stick bootable and start from scratch.

I'm not sure. You might want to look into Windows-to-Go but I'm not sure if that's relevant. (going off of my fuzzy memory here)

I wouldn't recommend booting from that all the time because it's likely not as fast as we'd like. (depending) and it may be awkward sticking out of a computer.

Most boot from stick preparations are for scenarios where you need the OS only infrequently and don't want VM ware hogging HDD space, or you hop from machine to machine all the time, or need the stick to boot and troubleshoot.

It really is not the best daily driver scenario.
