Just to clarify - this applies to issues with Whatsapp on both 7.x and 8.x, right?

Asking because the thread is a sticky for Lumia 920 so likely that 7.x guys and other WP8 OEM guys *might* not post in here!

Yes my thinking is its a WP app. Its basic principle and usage is the same on both 7&8. There will be questions the apply to only one or the other like live tile issues or battery issues. The main thing is we want all what's app people discussing in this thread. It will be easier for new members with questions to get answers if everything is in one thread verses spread all over the forum.

I've never realized till this moment that we actually don't have just "Windows Phone" forum. It would help in cases like this.

What is the intended purpose for Windows Phone Apps forum from admin point of view? Do we prefer to see only new apps/discounts etc to be posted there or such bug/issue threads are fit for WPApps?

I don't know if I had a brain frat of what happened. The What'sApp thread was supposed to be in the WP Apps forum not the L920 forum. I moved it to the WP apps forum now. The thinking is that all WP apps should be discussed in the WP apps forum. When people are searching for fun stuff for their new device be it WP 7 or 8 a simple search for WP apps should lead them to our WP apps forum.

Maybe it's just me, but I never understood all the complaints about WhatsApp. It's one of the first apps I got when I got my Nokia, since it's a replacement for a group chat I had that originally was a BBM group until everyone except 2 people use something other than Blackberry.

It's never been bad for me with battery, notifications, lag, or anything else. It's not as bad as BBM for lagging and freezing. BBM groups were horrendous for draining battery and freezing devices. When I was in the BBM groups we actually had to schedule updating the OS, since when one person in the group updated everyone in the group got spinning hourglass of death and dead batteries.

It's not that bad on WP but Whatsapp is being bashed so badly because it works much better on other platforms. It's more of an outrage for poor app shoved for WP whereas all others get perfect or near to perfect frequently updated versions. Things like not being able to share videos come from OS limitation more than anything else, which common users have no idea about. Whatsapp only drains a lot of battery if you use it frequently. I get whatsapp nearly 10-20 times an hour at least. So that means my phone never gets a chance to sleep esp with this audio API fix. Thus, my phone dies much quicker than yours because mine never sleeps!

That makes sense. Video sharing was never something any of the people in my WhatsApp group did. BBM has video sharing, and nobody ever used it there either.

I mean there is a workaround for those who use it.I generally upload it to Skydrive and share the link. But, of course that is a pain for some esp when they only have 7GB space for everything they do. I've got 15GB used up on mine just by photos from camera roll!

I got the free 25 GB Skydrive when Microsoft ran the special promotion. I doubt if I'd ever be into video. I've always preferred still photography, not film. I never even owned a camcorder or had interest in them.

My friend's brother has a BA in film, but he wasn't ever able to get me interested in film either (other than watching movies at home or at the theatre).

What about Cinemagraphs? That's the grey area right? :P
