I recently bought lumia 640xl lte and it's working fine.

However there is no option to make a video call when I choose a person from my contacts ?!

Is there some option that I have not enabled ?

You usually need an app to do that. Most chat and related social apps are capable of that, such as Skype and WeChat.

No I don't . I didn't need an app with my prevoius Nokia phone. Also, my carrier gives me video call option for free.

By using Skype I would have to spend Mb from my data plan ? And the other participant would have to have Skype installed.

Is it possible that there is no native option on Lumia's for video call ?

your previous phone certainly was not a Windows phone then because video only works via separate app as gpobernardo explained. On Windows 10 Mobile Skype is integrated into messaging (or will be soon, still in the works maybe). Video chat is definitely coming from your data plan.

Even in your scenario, the other party would have to have some type of video call plan enabled or use a third party video chat program that talks to your provider's video plan. As far as I know that is not the norm at least in the US. Curious what you had there previously, country, provider etc. Some countries in Europe are certainly much more advanced when it comes to telecommunication. Possibly a Videophone? From your post I assume everybody has this video call option for free?

I had Nokia N79 Mini with Symbian.
Yes, I am from Europe, from Serbia to be exact. There are 3 mobile carriers in the country and 2 offer free video calls.
To be honest I don't know how much video calls are widespread. I don't think that people use them that much, so that is maybe the reason it is free.
Good news is that it will be somehow integrated with windows 10. Almost everyone has Skype.
