"Nokia by Microsoft" may not be the best idea for branding on new Nokia phones.

We all know Nokia phones are what helped Windows phone gain some market share. Also what caused Microsoft to buy the Nokia hardware division. But future rumored Nokia phones have "Nokia by Microsoft" branding on it. First let me say besides mice, keyboards, routers, and modems, most of Microsoft's hardware does not have Microsoft prominently displayed on the hardware. Xbox, Zune, Kin, and even Surface (I think). Does or did not have the Microsoft name prominently Stamped on the hardware. Like the rumored new Nokia Lumia phones. It is good that the Nokia name is still there but having by Microsoft after the name is not a good idea. It does not fit Microsoft in the hardware dept, and may hurt Nokia cell phones, which may also hurt Windows Phone in the long run what are your thoughts.

oh i think the nokia by microsoft stamp is nice, but only if its only labeled at the back of the phone. if it will be labeled also on the front, then it is bad

Mmmm...
That pic of the alleged 830 in the other thread is just conjecture.
I don't think it's bankable...

When you first get the box for the Surface, Xbox etc, It's immediately obvious that the Microsoft logo is on the box.

Nokia is more iconic than "Lumia" - people are going to recognize the Nokia brand more than they would the Lumia brand.

-especially if we are talking about customers outside of the US.

...my two cents.

I totally agree with that, but I feel like its similar to HP by Microsoft for laptops or Sony by Comcast on TVs. Those are companies that are not waned by the later. Microsoft doesn't own Nokia, Microsoft owns their devices, Lumias. Just my thoughts, won't lose sleep either way though lol

If they going to keep Nokia logo on front of device and put Microsoft logo on the back I'll be fine with this :-)
