I'm currently downloading/installing the offline U.S. maps. 1.9 gb. I work @ home but will drive somewhere later to check it out.

Took almost 2-1/2 hours to download/install. Drained my frickin' battery before I could install the voice, but the app recognized this when I re-started. Went with the UK female. Haven't actually driven anywhere yet.

What do you mean "installed voice" I just downloaded my local maps. Ok, just tried to use it and had download a voice. I went with UK female too. Too back I can't get Elizabeth Hurley to ride with me and give out directions.

LOL, when I tried to initially download maps, it was trying to download them from all over the world and said I needed an "additional 4.6G" of free space. YIKES!

are you talking about the NOKIA maps that got hacked for all the phones???

can some one PM me the link or post it real quick BEFORE BIG D comes and locks the thread, HAHA

I have Nokia Maps, Nokia Drive, and Nokia Music. :) Send me a DM with your email addy. I don't think Big D will close this thread, as seeing as Nokia Drive was on the front page yesterday and they were going their review of it. LOL.

did you pay for chev unlock , is there a way to get it done for free?

im not even sure where to go or how to get it done :S... little help?

I have a dev account, so I didn't have to go the chevron route. I don't think there's a free way to get it unlocked for side loading.

Yeah, I paid the 99 bucks. I've never seen the Chev site. It was on the front page a few weeks ago.

If you have a university email address (ends in .edu) then you can register with MS dreamspark. Its MS's program for getting software to students. Then you can register for a student dev account "FO FREE BIZNATCH" and unlock your phone that way. Its the route I went with and it worked out quite nicely.

Also this thread should be moved to development. This is not a market place app.

Went for a short drive. I think the voice is something like Kate Beckinsale meets Kate Winslet. Unfortunately, "she" doesn't say the street name when instructing to turn. And the directions are not spelled out so you can look ahead, like Bing and MQ on my wife's 4S. You can get away w/not constantly looking at the map on those apps, but with this, you rely on the map heavily when streets are close together, like in a residential neighborhood. Not exactly safe.

Also, I take a very windy road to my house, and
the app thought some of the curves were turns, telling me to turn left or right in 0.n miles, lol.

And the massive map downloads, what's up w/that? Clearly, this thing was pushed out in a rush. I'd expect updates over time. Not trying to trash it, it's an OK start, just lacking key features that I hope to see in the future.

I used it today for the first time, too.

PRO: It has a map for my country.
CON: Said map is, at least, 2 years old. Which means it's outdated.

If you have to pay for dev unlock you may as well just get navigon. Its half the price too.
