Nokia Lumia 520 Messaging

I have a Nokia Lumai 520 and when I have need to take the battery out or reset my phone my messaging goes weird. When I turn the phone back on I suddenly "can't connect to chat" and I can receive messages yet not see them. After a while it usually just goes back to normal but this time it isn't, why is this?

First, for things to work correctly your date and time have to be correct. Which is why it takes time to sort out. Ensure that's correct when you restart your phone.

Next, you don't need to pull your battery to reset. Just hold the volume and power buttons at the same time and wait until the phone vibrates. Only pull the battery if the phone is really locked.

You may need to reset your time and date.
