Idont have much knowledge on the Linux Os but I think your can uninstall your Lumia device drivers from the device drivers manager. And then connect your Lumia. It will automatically install the drivers

I believe Windows Phone uses MTP, if that helps.

There isn't anything official for Linux. (let alone one of the various distros)
Easiest would probably be to pick up Windows, but perhaps there is some hacky solution out there.
