When I got my phone my gmail was working flawlessly. About a week or so ago my email was compromised somehow but wasn't affected since I have phone verification enabled. Anyway, I changed my password just to be on the safe side and as soon as I changed it, my gmail has stopped working. It would say that my password was incorrect which I did happen to change in the settings. I deleted the whole gmail account and set it up from scratch again but all it will do now is try to Synchronize. After some time, in the email and accounts section it will say that there is some attention required for the account which asks me to enter my password again and try to re-synchronize. So I have no idea why it would be doing this..

This might have something to do with google cutting off activesync support. I know they said that only users who are grandfathered in will be able to still use it for a while and anyone making a new account will be cut off. Perhaps changing your password qualifies to google as being a new user. MS hasn't introduced CalDav/Carddav as the alternate solution just yet but it is coming.

Seriously though, setup an outlook.com address and just forward your gmail to it. It is a dramatically superior email experience and contact manage is like night and day. I don't even know how I survive with google contacts so long... what a mess.

Do you have two step authorization on your google account? Might look at your authorized apps within your google account. Might need to generate a one time code there and use that as the password? Googles whole permissions / authorization stuff has gotten a lot more complicated lately.

I tried several times to change my password in Gmail, and can access email from google's mobile site (but thats extra steps and more time to load) from the phone's internet explorer.. Back to the phone mail settings: I can't update the new password I changed. Even to open account properties under settings from the mail tab I'm not able to remove the account and start again. Now I'm branded with a dysfunctional mailbox and have to check my email on the web. Can still get it done on the phone, just with extra wait time :(
