I mostly just view the site/forums, but I had an idea and wanted to get you opinions on it. Now, keep in mind that I am no sort of artist and I understand this. The pictures aren't great, but bear with me. Also, yes it was done in paint.

When the user pulls it half way, it will show the heading of the notification (i.e. e-mail, SMS, Facebook) and show a preview under it. The user would be able to pull the notification center at any time during any app (although, in my opinion it should be a 2 finger operation to avoid miss pulls, or from the bezel). It would work mostly the same as Android or iOS, if the user taps the notification, it sends the user to the place where he/she can view/reply, or if it's a store update or something, that is where it sends the user, but it will follow the WP8 theme.

In other words, BB10's "peek". Good thing Microsoft has deep pockets, because BlackBerry would sue them back to the stone age.

Not necessarily, it is more akin to the top-down notification center, but horizontal in action. BB10's "peek" function is different.

It's just a standard notification centre but from the left instead of Android & iOS which is top.

Indeed, it solves the problem of the notification center without leaving the theme of Windows Phone, and letting someone use it in app.

LOL....good luck with that.....there is nothing revolutionary in the peek idea....I've seen it done on android in the past (perhaps not as good)

What Jealy666 said, it's a no go because of the horizontal navigation used in WP. I also doubt if any of the W8 swipe gestures (Charms) will ever come to WP due to same fact.

The only problem is that ALL "metro UI" apps swipe left & right... I don't see it really working.

They could make it so that you swipe right from the screen to scroll within the app, and you swipe from the edge of the left side of the screen to show the notification center. Is that possible? With multi touch I assume it can be done.

It could be done this way, there's no technical limitations here.

I don't think it would even be that hard to use for you or me, but the person who chose WP for his first smartphone would without a doubt be confused and annoyed every time miss-swipe occurs.

Its alright, Nokia can share their Harmattan patents. Then lets see who sue who. Would be interesting if LG decided to join the party with their WebOS.

Personally, I think the best way to have a notification centre on WP8 would be to have it in the "app switcher" that appears when you hold your back button... either that or obviously a boring swipe down.

Double tap Home button.

plus gestures from the bezels of smartphones doesn't work like it does on a tablet. Smartphones typically have cases that prevent the user from touching the bezel. I just tried that motion on my 8x with a silicone case and it doesn't work well.

Total rip-off of BB10's new notification center......

Why couldn't the notification center work just like the lock screen? When a notification status appears at the top of the screen, you simply pull it down to open, and swipe it back up to close (just like if you press the lock button, then press it again to get the lock screen, and when you swipe up the app resumes). This seems like it'd be too easy to implement, since the basics of it already exist.

The only catch is the notifications that you'd receive would be limited to those that you give the lockscreen access to.

A double fingered swipe works as well. I don't think double tapping a home button is intuitive for a notification center.

I really thing that holding on the search button will be used for something. The back and Windows button have different functions when you hold them but search does not. I would like this to either be 'phone search' similar to universal search on webOS or notifications. It'd be great to be in any screen and just long press search to jump into a notification menu. I think from the lock screen it should be a swipe right this way you have right swipe notifications, swipe up unlock, swipe left kids corner.
