After doing the major update I now have a 12G windows.old folder. Can I just blow it away after being sure everything is working okay or will it go away by itself?
Had the Same problem after Nov update, but my folder took 20+ gb. I've used disk cleanup tool to get rid of itAfter doing the major update I now have a 12G windows.old folder. Can I just blow it away after being sure everything is working okay or will it go away by itself?
You can blow it away... That's your old windows which you should've formatted while installing update. N it will not go away by itself.
Everyone saying this is from the old (vista/7/8/8.1) Windows install is wrong, you're missing where the op said it appeared after the update. I also got one of these after the november update and my install was a fresh 10 to a brand new ssd. Threshold 2 was like the 8 to 8.1 transition, and generated a .old folder, but this folder will not contain vista/7/8/8.1. Removing this folder will prevent you from rolling back to the original flavor of 10.
