NVIDIA RTX 5090 graphics cards are melting power cables (again) — but who's to blame for this recurring GPU nightmare?

600 watts at 12 volts is 50 amps. That's a lot of current. No wonder these dinky cables are melting.

Sounds to me like it is time for the Arm revolution to do to GPUs what they already did to CPUs. Sucking huge amounts of power and needing huge cooling fans is just absurd.

Now as always, buying cheap wires is one of the costliest mistakes you can make. Always size your wires for the maximum draw they will see and add at least 10% to 20% to avoid this kind of user error.
