OneDrive camera roll photos disappear when you buy a new Windows phone. How can I recover them?

onedrive camera roll photos disappear when you buy a new windows phone

All of my photos that auto-uploaded to the camera roll folder on skydrive/onedrive for almost two years disappeared when I bought a new windows phone. I can't tell you how upset I am. I thought they were safe in the cloud.
I assume there's nothing I can do, but wanted to warn everyone -- apparently you need to save them somehow? But if someone knows how I can recover them, I'd be grateful.

Have u signed in using same id n password? It has always worked for me... Pics get uploaded to server.. Doesn't matter how many phones u change they'll always be at onedrive's server.

Maybe you should check if you have accidentaly signed up with the different account.

Thank you and I wish it was the wrong account, but no. For example, all of the photos in the 'saved photos' were the same before and after I get the new windows phone. But the camera roll folder went from having dozens of photos in it to having just one photo that I had taken with my new phone.

Check your onedrive recycle bin, they should be there if they were somehow deleted.

Thanks, Amit. My photos that someone sent me or I downloaded/uploaded from somewhere else are still there. But all the photos that were just in the camera roll folder are gone. I just went and looked at the onedrive folder that's called pictures, which takes all of your pictures and shows them by date. Prior to my getting my new phone, the only one that are on there are in different folders; after the new phone, all of the camera roll photos are on there.

So, the efman found my pictures! Yay! So new question: Do we all need to move our camera roll pix from that folder to the saved folder before we change phones? Or was my experience an anomaly?

I wonder how it ended up in the bin? Bug in the cloud perhaps? I've gone thru several windows phones without the content being changed but what happened to you was weird.

I'm wondering if maybe Verizon did it when they activated my new phone? It's good to know that it's not a typical thing. And that pix stay in the deleted folder for a REALLY long time....next time I delete a picture that I really don't want anyone to see, I'll empty the recycling bin.

Well i guess since it's a camera roll, and is supposed to save photos from new phone, maybe because of that the script simply moved your photos to the recycle bin.

Yeah, although it doesn't seem to have happened to other people, so maybe it required *cough* human intervention, aka Verizon. Or maybe I somehow did it. Who knows.
