I tried a search but I didn't find any answers on this. I've noticed there seems to be free office apps in OneDrive. What I was wondering is what does Office 365 offer over what comes in OneDrive?

Office 365 (non Enterprise plans) gives you the full Office suite to install on 1-5 computers, depending on your plan.

Office 365 is not comparable to Office Online.
Office 365 is primarily a subscription for full on-an-device Office and a few extra perks such as additional OneDrive space and upgrades to the most recent version of Office. It lets you to install Office on a few devices, iOS included as opposed to the one-time purchase license which allows for two installs. The hyped Office for iPad requires a 365 subscription.

I've only used the OfficeOnline a few times when it's opened up OneDrive docs on me. It seemed rather nice but I didn't explore around enough to see what's missing. I have Office 2013 currently.

So with 365 there are actual apps that still install to a desktop still?

I'm thinking of trying 365 out, especially for my son who just started virtual home schooling.

After getting it at work I finally realized that Office 365 is Office 2013 (as of now). It's more or less the licensing method along with deeper account and OneDrive integration.
