Overheats before start up is finished

Well this is pretty neat. My surface 2 can now overheat itself before I can even put my password in. The back gets really hot pretty fast. I've only had it for 3 months and never had any problems. Microsoft could only recommend that I drive 4 hours to my nearest tech center so they get a 10 for customer service. Any ideas besides having unbearable buyers regret?
